THIRD ANNUAL TAX DAY TEA PARTY CONVENES AT ROSS’S LANDING APRIL 15
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Feb. 22) – Nationally-known conservative pundit and author Star Parker will keynote the Third Annual Chattanooga Tax Day Tea Party Rally at Ross’s Landing April 15. Author and innovative political fundraiser Richard Viguerie and former Tennessee State Representative Susan Lynn will also address the event, which will get underway at 4 p.m. with the opening of concession tables and live music.
Parker is founder and president of CURE, the Center for Urban Renewal and Education, a think tank promoting market-based public policy to fight poverty. As a social policy consultant, Parker brings real-life experience to policy discussions on traditional mores, limited government and private ownership. Author of the newly-revised “Uncle Sam’s Plantation: How Big Government Enslaves America’s Poor and What We Can do About It,” Parker lived in the grip of welfare dependency for seven years. She is a regular commentator on CNN, TBN, CNBC, CBN and FOX News and a syndicated columnist for Scripps News Service, offering weekly op-eds to more than 300 newspapers worldwide.
Viguerie, a direct marketing guru and noted author, has been called the “funding father” of modern conservative political campaigns. The founder and former publisher of Conservative Digest magazine, Viguerie developed marketing techniques and technology that motivated millions of Americans to participate in politics for the first time, greatly expanding the base of active citizenship. In 1981 People magazine named him one of the 25 most intriguing people of the year and he was cited in the Washington Times as one of 13 “Conservatives of the Century.” His latest book, “Conservatives Betrayed,” is both a manifesto of what conservatism stands for in the 21st century and a battle plan for reclaiming and revitalizing the movement.
Lynn is a former member of the Tennessee General Assembly representing the 57th District. She served as chairman of the Government Operations Committee and the Commerce Committee. She holds a BS in economics and a minor in history. She is the Chairman of the American Legislative Exchange Council’s Commerce Task Force.
The official 90-minute program will start at 5:30 p.m. and will include live music, food and memorabilia concessions and family fun. Attendees are urged to bring lawn chairs, “family-friendly” signs and flags.
