TENNESSEE 29TH DISTRICT CANDIDATE MIKE CARTER AND CHARLES JOYNES TO ADDRESS CTP MONTHLY MEETING APRIL 19

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Apr. 17) – This month’s Chattanooga Tea Party meeting will feature two speakers: Mike Carter will discuss why he’s running for the 29th State House District and Brainerd High School Principal Charles Joynes will talk about a major problem among area youth – apathy. The meeting begins at 6:30.

The meeting will take place at the Century Club Banquet Hall, 3221 Harrison Pike (off Access Road, just south of the Highway 153-Amnicola Highway intersection, next to The Lighting Gallery).

Mike Carter is a lifelong resident of Ooltewah, Tennessee. After practicing law for 20 years in Chattanooga, Mike was appointed by then-Governor Don Sundquist in 1997 as General Sessions Court Judge of Hamilton County. In August 2005 in Houston, Texas following hurricane Rita, Mike resigned his judgeship to volunteer full time helping elderly disabled. In 2009 County Mayor Claude Ramsey asked him to return to serve as his Special Assistant. He resigned when Mayor Ramsey left Hamilton County to become Deputy Governor. Mike and Joan, his wife of 37 years, reside in Ooltewah, Tennessee where they operate a small business.

Three years ago, Charles Joynes walked into Brainerd High School challenged by gang violence, low academic achievement and kids who don’t see a future. Since then, Joynes has been on a mission to reverse prospects of students and faculty by engaging kids, challenging them and providing positive leadership and perhaps some needed parenting many lack. He was recently cited by Times Free Press writer David Cook as principal of the year for his efforts.

Media are invited to cover this and all Chattanooga Tea Party monthly membership meetings.

Attendees are asked to RSVP to Chattanooga Tea Party’s Facebook page (link at ChattanoogaTeaParty.com). Donations will be accepted at the event to help defray costs.

The Chattanooga Tea Party is a non-partisan grassroots organization seeking to educate and inform its members and the public at large of the fundamental issues and struggles our country is facing. We are committed to energizing voters to become engaged in the process of solving the nation’s problems.
