CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (Sept. 30) – Members of the Chattanooga Tea Party will be standing with other supporters of Gibson Guitars for a rally in Nashville on Saturday, October 8 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. in the parking lot of the ScoreBoard Sports Bar at 2408 Music Valley Drive, off Briley Parkway near Opryland. More information on the rally is available at http://gibsonrally.blogspot.com/.
Federal agents raided a Gibson plant in Nashville in August and seized what it claimed was illegally imported wood from India, even though the company said its imports were cleared by the Indian government. This was the second such seizure the Feds executed against Gibson since 2009.
According to National Review’s Pat Nolan, “Fish and Wildlife bureaucrats claim that, because the wood was not finished by Indian workers, it broke Indian law. In other words, a U.S. agency is enforcing foreign labor laws that the foreign government doesn’t even think were violated.”
Leadership of the Chattanooga Tea Party believe the raids and seizures were inappropriately carried out by SWAT teams in full battle dress. The whole incident smacks of federal abuse of power and appears to be punishment of a company that has openly supported Republican candidates and issues.
The Chattanooga Tea Party is a non-partisan grassroots organization seeking to educate and inform its members and the public at large of the fundamental issues and struggles our country is facing. We are committed to energizing voters to become engaged in the process of solving the nation’s problems.
