ACTION: WEDNESDAY, March 31 – We need HUNDREDS state-wide to travel to Nashville for the 10 AM Comm. Vote & urge our Atty. General to join the other 13 states that have already filed lawsuits against the fed gov’t. The Health Care Act is likely a tie vote, so your calls & presence are vital. (See directions to Legislative Plaza at bottom)

ACTION: MON. & TUES. PRIOR TO THE VOTE- STATE-WIDE PHONE BLITZ – Just list off the 5 state sovereignty bill numbers below when you call or email and urge them to vote YES on each of them:

HB3433: Healthcare Freedom Act sponsored by Rep. Bell and Senator Beavers: Prevents Tennesseans from being forced to purchase federal health insurance. The comm. is split 6 dems/6 rep., however, Rep. Bell’s office has told us they do believe that one or more of the Dems. on the Subcommittee could be persuaded into voting YES on HB3433 if contacted by concerned citizens throughout the state. To pass HB3433 either one or more Dems must vote for the bill or the Speaker of the House Kent Williams must be urged to come to the meeting and vote as allowed under House Rule 65. Kent Williams is a co-sponsor of the bill.

HJR745: Tennessee Constitutional Amendment sponsored by Rep. Lynn: Prohibits laws or rules that would compel any person, employer, or health care provider to participate in any health care system.

HB2622: Prohibits the legislature from requiring any person to participate in any health care system or plan (sponsored by Rep. Lynn).

HB2417 Enacts Health-Care Choice Act

HJR722 Constitutional Amendments – Establishes a free enterprise system of Government.

Attorney General Bob Cooper Bob.Cooper@ag.tn.gov Bob.Cooper@ag.tn.gov> Urge him to bring a lawsuit against the federal government NOW, not later. There initial decision was to first do a thorough legal analysis of the ‘complex’ bill. Health Care is not a delegated power of the federal government under the U.S. Constitution. Beyond that, any mandate forcing citizens to purchase health care violates Art. 1, Section 1 & 2 of the TN Constitution “That the government being instituted for the common benefit, the doctrine of nonresistance against arbitrary power and oppression is absurd, slavish, and destructive of the good and happiness of mankind.”
